Cricket icon and Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar has selected Donja village in Osmanabad district for development under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna.
Osmanabad has been reeling under a serve drought over last few years and has also recorded a steep rise in incidents of farmers suicide
Vadodara District Collector Vinod Rao told PTI that he received a letter in this regard from Jaitley on Wednesday.
Sachin Tendulkar is now set to adopt Donja village in Osmanabad, where he will oversee the development of a new school building, a water supply scheme that would provide potable water to each household, concrete roads and a sewage line attached to the same.
Each 'adarsh village' should have piped drinking water, connectivity to the main road, electricity supply to all households, library, telecom and broadband connectivity including CCTVs in public areas. Emphasis will also be on e-governance, says Sheela Bhatt/Rediff.com.
